SHOCK! is very proud of it's tradition of maximizing the individual athlete's ability and growth while maintaining a fun, creative, and supportive environment. We are very careful about teaching our customers to exceed their expectations while maintaining their interest and minimizing sport related injuries. We do not ask athletes to try skills they are not ready for and this, along with the proper equipment, has resulted in a very safe training environment. Our athletes are asked to give their best, and in return, we provide the best training possible, a safe environment, and the physical and mental support to make their training here a positive growth experience. We treat your children like they are our own because our children are here training with them!

What is All Star Cheer?
All Star Cheer is a relatively new club style competitive version of cheerleading where the teams don't cheer for another sport, THEY ARE THE SPORT! Children start as young as 3 years old and the teams generally practice year long, 1-2 times per week, and compete in 6-10 regional and national competitions from September to March. Teams are divided by age and skill level so teams compete against teams from other gyms who are at the same level. All Star Cheer routines are 2:30 seconds long and include tumbling, cheer, and dance skills. Cheer can be physically demanding and is an excellent way for kids to stay in shape (or get in shape). Competitors will gain physical skills, self confidence, and self discipline. Think of it as football for girls.
Who can compete?
All girls can compete in All Star Cheer. Every girl on the team competes every time, every girl is important, every girl is a star. We have teams for every age and skill level. Whether your child is 3 or 13, no tumbling, no problem. It is never too late to start to fulfill a dream!
Where do you compete?
SHOCK!, as a gym, generally goes to competitions in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Dallas to keep costs manageable. Individual competitors may compete in other events as far away as San Diego or Florida. The competitions are usually held in a major city convention center such as Oklahoma City's Cox Center. Sometimes the events are covered by local or national news and sports media such as Fox Sports or local television stations.
What do I need to start?
All you need to start is a great attitude and willingness to learn. SHOCK! Sports will teach you the dance, cheer, and tumbling skills you need to compete. Each year you will be placed based on your skills at the the beginning of the season. At level one, there are no tumbling skill requirements at all. At the highest level, competitors are expected to have substantial tumbling skills which generally require extensive tumbling training. Teams start at ages as young as 3 years old with senior teams allowing competitors as old as 18 or a senior in high school. We also have a parents squad for parents of All Star Cheerleaders which competes at selected regional and national championships against parent squads from other gyms.
How does All Star Cheer @SHOCK! differ from school cheer or other gyms?
1. We don't cheer for other sports, WE ARE THE SPORT! All Star Cheer is purely for the sake of competing against other squads at a similar skill/age level.
2. Everyone can be a cheerleader in All Star Cheer, not just a select few. Regardless of your age or starting skill level, we have a squad for you. We even have a parents squad where parents of competitors compete against other parent squads from other gyms in regional and national competition..
3. We don't stand around in the rain. We compete in major venues like the Dallas Convention Center and Oklahoma City's Cox Center.
4. We have special equipment for a safer training environment. We practice and compete on spring floors which reduce injuries by 85% (school squads generally practice and compete on mats). We have spring tumbling strips, an air tumble trak, and numerous tumbling teaching aids. We train in a dedicated facility selected and equipped for tumbling and cheer training. This means that our gym is generally a safer and better environment for training cheerleaders than any other available. Several different school teams train using our gym facilities
5. We have professional coaches. Because we are a professional business, we pay our coaches. That allows us to attract and retain excellent coaches. For example, one tumbling coach is a 2 time Olympic gold medalist, another a level 10 gymnast training for the next Olympics, several are professional cheerleaders on exhibition teams or have been national champions at the collegiate level.
7. Costs are as low as we can get them. Our current AllStar uniforms are @ $215, substantially less than most other gyms. Recreational and Exhibition uniforms are approximately $115 and are optional until you decide to perform. 8. SHOCK! is an open gym, parents are always welcome to stay and watch their childern train. We are one of the few gyms in the area that allow parents to directly watch practices. We are not only gym owners, we are also parents and our daughters cheer here also. We try to treat parents like we would like to be treated.
9. AllStar cheerleading is a very competitive sport and everybody loves to win. That being said, we train children and children need to have fun or they burn out and don't have happy childhood experiences. We train to win but we do not train to win at any cost. We want the the kids to enjoy their experience and have fun making new friends with team mates while also learning important life skills like hard work, discipline, competitiveness, and team work. The children come first at SHOCK!.
Can All Star Cheer help me get on a school squad? YES! The skills you learn in All Star Cheer are the same skills you will need to successfully try out for your school squad. With the rising level of competency in both styles of cheer, the sooner you start, the better your chances. Some of our coaches also coach school teams and we have preparatory classes that are just to improve your try out skills for school squads. In some local schools, more than half of the school squad are girls from SHOCK! All Star teams.
Are there Cheer scholarships to help pay for college?
Yes! Many colleges and universities now offer scholarships for cheerleading through the athletic department. In fact, some of SHOCK!'s coaches attend school on cheer scholarships so this is a sport that can help pay for your college education.
Are there any important credentials or memberships to look for?
Yes, there is now an umbrella non-profit organization that is setting standards for levels, safety, and coach credentials called the US All Star Federation (USASF). SHOCK! was an early member of USASF and has several USASF credentialed coaches.
